Feng Shui is a quite a sophisticated and abstract subject to the average man in the street. To the layperson, hiring a Feng Shui practitioner is quite a challenging task because he would not know how to assess the competency of the Feng Shui practitioner. Yet, if he did not get a highly competent Feng Shui practitioner, he would, at the minimum, be wasting the fees he is going to pay for the Feng Shui audit. However, if he gets really unlucky, he could hire a Feng Shui practitioner that accelerates the death of his son or the rape of his daughter.
Feng Shui being such a highly abstract and yet unregulated industry, has naturally seen to the proliferation of quacks who are in this industry to make easy money. It is unfortunate that these quacks are giving the Feng Shui profession a bad name. For the benefit of our readers who are believers in Feng Shui, I have come up with some simple questions and considerations for clients to ask and consider the professionalism of their prospective Feng Shui consultant.
For a start, customers may ask if the prospective Feng Shui consultant knows Ba Zi and Zi Wei Dou Shu. It is highly preferred that he knows both these art of Chinese Astrology. The next question is ask is for him whether he thinks consideration of Chinese Astrology affects the Feng Shui recommendations he is going to make. The acceptable answer is only yes.
Following this, the customer may ask him to describe how he would use Ba Zi and Zi Wei Dou Shu to carry out the Feng Shui recommendations. Admittedly the answer to this question may be beyond the comprehension of most customers but yet it is pertinent to assess his confidence and the reasonableness of his answer.

I found your presentations quite interesting, up to the point to rss your blog, but even if it’s obvious that many people do anything else but feng shui while selling feng shui advice, you cannot judge the ability of a feng shui consultant with his ou her knowledge of ba zi or zwds.
First, destiny is one classical chinese art, physionomy is another one. Mountains, divination and mountains are the 3 others. Mastering one art doesnt’ require that you master the other ones.
Second, destiny tools are designed to find the best path on earth, providing that the customer wants to know it. Feng shui is used to support a project. It can be any project that the customer wants to achieve and you cannot force him to get at the same time a destiny consultation.
I agree that for someone who is questioning “what is best suited for me to do now”, that ba zi is a very good tool and that feng shui can help to achieve that goal, but in many cases, what is the goal is provided by the customer and you don’t have to interfere whith his wish. Else you fall into power and you should go and practice the mountain art not to follow your own mind and fall into power.
Anyhow, if the goal is not reaseonable, the land will not provide the qi to achieve it.
To make a more positive contribution, what about a feng hsui consultant that cannot find what are the problems that the customer encounters in his life. This is a good criteria. Before fixing, do the diagnoses. I know no pop feng shui practionner able to do it …

Question: Isn’t a degree course in Dentistry seperate and distinct from that of Medicine? Why does a dentist aspirant have to study medicine en route to completing his Dentistry Degree course?
Considering the destiny path of a Feng Shui customer before proceeding with giving him Feng Shui recommendation is not akin to interfering with his wishes. Picture the case of a patient who comes to a doctor asking for strong pain killers to alleviate his pain. Strong pain killers upset the digestive system. If this doctor is not able to diagnose that this patient had digestive system issues nor foresee the side effect of the medicine to upset his patient’s digestive system, he will be like the Feng Shui practitioner that does not know astrology – obeying customer’s wishes blindly but ultimately bringing harm to this customer.
