I chanced across an article detailing that tomorrow will see a rare event termed Supermoon.

“‘Supermoon’ is a situation when the moon is slightly closer to Earth in its orbit than on average, and this effect is most noticeable when it occurs at the same time as a full moon,” Garvin wrote in the NASA statement. “So, the moon may seem bigger although the difference in its distance from Earth is only a few percent at such times.”

The full moon of March will occur next Saturday on March 19, when the moon will be about 221,567 miles (356,577 kilometers) away from Earth. The average distance between the Earth and the moon is about 238.000 miles (382.900 km).

“It is called a supermoon because this is a very noticeable alignment that at first glance would seem to have an effect,” Garvin explained. “The ’super’ in supermoon is really just the appearance of being closer, but unless we were measuring the Earth-Moon distance by laser rangefinders (as we do to track the LRO [Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter] spacecraft in low lunar orbit and to watch the Earth-Moon distance over years), there is really no difference.”

It was astrologer Richard Nolle who linked the full moon of March 19 to natural disasters. He claimed that this “supermoon” would trigger massive earthquakes, volcanoes and powerful storms when it arrived. But scientists assure that this is not the case.

After reading this, I was interested to find out if anything untoward will happen tomorrow and hence did a divination for it. While the overall picture of the divination were positive, nonetheless it throws up some disturbing images. First set of image seems to suggest that metal objects in the air. This is likely to be helicopters, planes or bombs. The second set of image have people hiding underneath the mountains to be shielded. The last set of image shows burning movements, metal, fear and helpers.

Does the set of images have anything to do with the aftermath of the earthquake, tsunami and radiation fears grappling the Japanese now? It would appear unlikely, because in case of radiation, the predominant image should be fire and not metal. It looks more like war.

I had an afternoon coffee session with 2 friends today during which the topic of teaching chart plotting in Chinese Metaphysics came up. One of them shared his experience of the agony of seeing the course fees he paid with each minute of the course ticking away while mundane chart plotting was taught during his Bazi class. The root cause of his grouse is probably due to the premium he paid for the Bazi course fees and chart plotting is deemed something for him to pick up on his own.

Whereas the other friend feel that any course teaching the right things should impart the skills on chart plotting. Afterall, if students bothered to attend course, they would have a higher level of enthusiasm in the subject to want to understand the mechanics of chart plotting.

My view is that much is dependent on level of course fees and difficulty of chart plotting from subject to subject. Whereas Bazi chart plotting is relatively easy, Zi Wei Dou Shu chart plotting is several times more difficult. Most of the students that were taught chart plotting about 2 hours doing that in class and yet still do not really know chart plotting thereafter. The students may lose $100 worth of course fees learning something most likely they cannot pick up. Is it right to milk the students of their course fees in this manner?

On the other hand, if course fees are cheap and chart plotting only requires 30 minutes to cover during the course, why not? Comparatively in such a scenario, the student may have only spent about $40 of his lesson hour learning chart plotting.

I just came back from an overseas trip and flipped open the newspapers and saw an interesting article.

LOS ANGELES: What goes around comes around?

After the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 55-point loss to the Los angeles Lalkers on Tuesday, LeBron James wrote a tweet about his former team”"Karma is a b****. Gets you every time. It’s not good to wish bad on anybody. God sees everything!”

James claimed he was only forwarding a message sent to him, but many saw it as a reference to the way he was treated by Cleveland, his home club, after he announced his move to Miami last year.

On Wednesday, karma bit back as the Heat’s 13-games road-winning streak ended in a 105-111 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, one of the worst teams in the Western Conference.

- The Straits Times, Singapore 14 January 2010

Karma is a word too often abused, too often brutalized by people who used it for their convenience. Crying Karma does not beget good Karma. It is beyond mortals like us to pass judgement, karmic ones in particular.

The beauty of practising an array of Chinese Metaphysics skills allows us to give advice on all aspects of one’s life without having to physically see that person. It was just a few days ago that I did one of such advice for a lady. The name has been amended to protect the privacy of the advised but consent has been obtained from her. Genuine printscreen of the conversation has been attached with only amendment to blank out the face and real name and personal details. Attached below is an excerpt of the online consultation via MSN Messenger.

Ken says:

Happy Chinese New Year to all!

Chinese Zodiac Forecast are part and parcel of Chinese New Year Festivity. In the months before and during the first month of Chinese New Year, there are many versions of such forecasts which sought to forecast the luck of all people in this world by dividing them into 12 groups of the Chinese zodiac sign based on the year each person is born in. Yes, all one needs to check is whether he/she is born in the Year of the Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Ram, Monkey, Rooster, Dog or Pig, and viola, he/she will know her luck for the whole year!

However, we need to know that historically, all such forecasts differ greatly from one forecaster to another. In fact, as I was doing my usual Chinese New Year visitations to relatives’ home, I overheard my cousin lamenting that the prediction of Fengshui Master A, differed from that Fengshui Master B, both of whom appeared on the first and second day of Chinese New Year TV programs respectively. Now, does that mean that Chinese Zodiac forecasts are merely hogwash?

First of all, I will agree that it is overly simplistic and generalized to forecast the luck of all people in this world by breaking them down to 12 broad groups. If one wants to have their luck forecasted, it is much better to use the combined tools of Zi Wei Dou Shu (ZWDS) and Ba Zi because they classify people into much many smaller groups than 12 broad groups.

Secondly, using a broad based tool is always saddled by the skill of the user of the tool. Take for instance, a scenic painting has the sun on the top right, sky on the top left, mountain on the bottom right, tree on the bottom center and river on the bottom left. If the Fengshui Master has microscopic view, he could be interpreting the painting based on particular sectors of the painting on the left, right, center, top or bottom. Meaning, one may tell you the painting is that of a mountain while another may tell you it is the painting of the sun and a third Fengshui Master may tell you it is the painting of a river.

Well, are these Fengshui Masters correct? You can say that technically, they are correct. But are they telling you the essence of the painting? No! What a skilled Fengshui Master would have interpreted is that this is a painting of Mountain ABC during sunrise.

So, the next time you read or watch such Chinese New Year Forecast based on the 12 Zodiacs, take it with a pinch of salt!

Finally, a new year has arrived! We wish everyone Gong Xi Fa Cai!

On 28th January, Fengshui Forward celebrated its first birthday. It has not always been a smooth journey so far, but along the way, we have seen our forum members grew to 450 in strength and there are currently more than 6000 posts on various metaphysics topics.

Fengshui Forward Forum

The forum has also tried to position itself by catering more toward helping members in their daily life through -astrological,fengshui,divination and date selection request sections. Our moderators Lcly & Mudbuddha as well as Gemini have taken major steps in taking the lead to promote bazi discussion within the forum. In the coming year, we will hope to continue to build up more information to cater to the wide interest of our members, especially on Zi Wei Astrology & Yijing Studies.

Fengshui Forward Blog

The blog has been useful in educating readers about Chinese Metaphysics through our articles as well as allow the administrators to pen their thoughts. In the future, we hope that our moderators can contribute their own articles to the website as well. More than 10000 unique readers have read our blog since the day we launched this website. A modest figure but we are confident that the website will continue to improve as we come up with more informative articles. I hope readers can help us to improve by giving us more comments and feedbacks.

With that, I wish everyone a prosperous Year 2009!

I met a client this afternoon at Boon Lay and decided to visit the Chinese Garden! Haven been there for a long while and guess what I saw? Yes…the statue of Guan Gong(Guan Yu). Reminded me again of the movie Red Cliff and how Guan Yu single handedly fought his way from the captive of Cao Cao. Brave? Strong? I call him COOL! Do you know that Guan Gong is worshipped by many chinese for his trustworthiness. He is also one of the ‘Wu Cai Shen’ (God of Wealth) that I used for my fengshui audit. Money money…

Oh back to the statue, in fact there are 8 legendary chinese sculptures at the Chinese Garden now. Not too long ago, they were housed at the marina city garden. Yah, our Singapore sculptures love to move house. Change of environment you can call it. Remember Mr Merlion? I heard he has just bought a property at Merlion Park. LOL

This is found in Chinese Garden also. I call it bad detailing, can’ t we have better craftsmanship? Can’ t even see or feel the dragon craving. If Singapore wishes to be a ‘Renaissance City’, then better start with our Chinese Garden first.

Are Fengshui Masters genies? Haha yeh we can gain you any wishes you want. Wait long long, it still have to depend on the structure of your destiny. If you are not born a king, we can’ t help you become one. But if you are only a farmer, then we can help you become the best farmer and the one that collect the most harvest every season.

How was your weekend guys? Mine was fun playing table tennis and watching the latest John Woo ’s movie ‘Red Cliff’ . (Haha away from some fengshui work is great isn’ t it) .

The setting of ‘Red Cliff’ is based in the Three Kingdoms era which was towards the end of Han Dynasty. It was a chaotic period in the history of Imperial China whereby warlords such as Cao Cao fought among one another for the right to rule the land. The movie chose one of the mosting exciting warfare ‘ChiBi’ at that period as the setting for the main movie plot.

Author of the book ‘Romance of the three kingdoms’ protrayed the character of Zhou Yu (acted by Tony Leung as shown in the Image) as a marshall who was inferior to the brillance of Zhuge Liang in many ways. This is wrong because Zhou Yu was a talent in his own way. The movie did well in giving Zhou Yu all the credits that he deserved!

One scene in the show caught my attenion. The use of Chinese ‘Ba Gua’ as a form of war strategy. Did we not use it in our daily fengshui application? Its amazing that Chinese metaphysics can be applied in so many possible ways.

Time to sleep…for those of yu who have yet to catch the movie, watch it ! More preview on the movie next time…

Quote of the day:

One of the things that can make people really successful in life is if they can take personal responsibility for both their successes and failures.
